Through the deal, all of Media General's television station markets will sell Zillow advertising. The company will also debut a Zillow cobranded real estate marketplace on each of its television Web sites.
"Media General has been a consistent sales leader for Zillow products at our daily newspapers.," said Media General president and CEO Marshall Morton. "As a result of our success, we are extending the benefits of the Zillow marketplace to our customers in 15 television markets."
The media company's televisions Web sites will incorporate Zillow's services, including its search engine, specialty advice, and mortgage rate information.
Spencer Rascoff recently replaced Zillow's cofounder Rich Barton as CEO. Some speculate that these changes are connected to a long-term strategy to go public.
"Spencer is an immensely capable and energetic leader who has been a driving force at Zillow from the beginning, helping to grow the company from a spark of an idea into a profitable industry leader," said Barton. "This promotion is well-deserved and reflects the leadership responsibility he's been carrying for a while."
