NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- McDonald's (MCD) - Get McDonald's Corporation (MCD) Report is recalling about 12 million Shrek Forever After 3D drinking glasses because the designs on the glasses contain cadmium.
Long-term exposure to cadmium can cause adverse health effects, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
So far, no actual incidents of injuries or health repercussions have been reported.

The 16-ounce glasses, which come in four designs -- Shrek, Fiona, Puss n' Boots, and Donkey -- were being distributed by McDonald's restaurants nationwide from May 2010 into June 2010 for about $2.
McDonald's urges consumers to immediately stop using the glasses, but said in a press release, "to be clear, the glassware was evaluated by an independent third-party laboratory which is accredited by the CPSC, and determined to be in compliance with all applicable federal and state requirements at the time of manufacture and distribution."
