said global systemwide sales for the company's restaurants rose 6.1% in July, while U.S. same-store sales climbed for the 28th straight month.
Comparable-store sales for McDonald's restaurants worldwide increased 4.9% last month, as did U.S. same-store sales. In Europe, comp sales rose 5.3%, primarily because of positive performances in France and Germany.
The Oak Brook, Ill., hamburger seller said same-store sales were up 4.1% in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa region in July, led by strength in Australia.
Shares of McDonald's were adding 60 cents, or 2%, to $31.90 in premarket trading Monday.
