
McDonald's Reassures Chinese Customers of Food Safety, Photo of Moldy Equipment Goes Viral
A photo taken in the U.S. prompted the company's Chinese arm to issue a statement on food safety.
McDonald's Corp.'s (MCD) - Get Report Chinese arm issued a statement to its customers after a photo taken by a worker in Louisiana and posted on Twitter (TWTR) - Get Report that showed a moldy part from an ice cream maker went viral.
"We're paying attention to the information being reposted today online about U.S. ice cream machines," McDonald's China said in the statement. "In China, ice cream machines used at McDonald's restaurants are automatically disinfected every day at a set time to ensure food safety."
McDonald's shares were up 0.06% to $156.60 in early morning trading.
