Speaking to analysts during an earnings call on Tuesday night, McDonald's (MCD) - Get McDonald's Corporation (MCD) Report CFO Kevin Ozan said the fast food giant has decided to cancel plans to sell its stake in its Japan unit now that it has seen a turnaround.
The Big Mac maker doesn't believe that keeping McDonald's Holding Co. Japan will have a negative long-term financial impact or upset its goal to have 95% of its restaurants franchised.
"We're confident that we have the right capabilities and customer-focused plans to grow our business in Japan, and we believe the market is poised to maintain its strong momentum," Ozan said, according to Bloomberg.
Shares of McDonald's were lower slightly in pre-market trading on Wednesday morning.
