Hughes, who has been in the post since April 27, cited personal and family reasons for the decision. Robert J. Stevens, the executive vice president and chief financial officer, has been named to succeed Hughes.

Stevens will assume the title of president and chief operating officer and will continue as financial chief until a replacement is named. Stevens was also named to the board.
