Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer Len Schlesinger has resigned from the retail conglomerate.

Limited CEO Leslie Wexner and Chief Administrative Officer Martyn Redgrave will assume Schlesinger's responsibilities, the company said Monday.

Limited didn't give a specific reason for Schlesinger's departure. The news comes as the Columbus, Ohio, company is in the midst of transforming itself to focus on its Victoria's Secret and Bath and Body Works brands, rather than clothing. The company recently sold a majority stake in its Express fashion chain, and it has an agreement in place to sell most of its Limited women's clothing chain.

"I'm very proud of everything we accomplished," said Schlesinger in a statement. "We did terrific work, and I have the utmost confidence that the strategy we've put into place will continue to be successful and will drive growth for the enterprise. I look forward to working with the Limited Brands team on a smooth transition."

Schlesinger joined Limited in 1999 as executive vice president of organization, leadership and human resources.
