LaGuardia Airport Is Ugly: Confirmed
NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- In November, TheStreet selected La Guardia Airport as one of America's ugliest, and it now looks like the airport boss agrees with us.
Speaking to the editorial board of
The Daily News
, Port Authority Executive Director Christopher Ward said he agrees with potential
presidential candidate Donald Trump,
who earlier called LaGuardia a "third world operation."
"This is recently the only thing he's actually been somewhat right about," Ward told the editors. "The central terminal at LaGuardia clearly needs to be rebuilt. We agree with it, and we have been postponing that project for seven, eight years."
Ward told
The Daily News
that it would cost about $4 billion to build a new main terminal at La Guardia. He said he didn't fully agree with Trump's put-down, but he does think a major facelift is needed.
In our poll to determine
the top five ugly airports, LaGuardia was the biggest vote-getter, with 1,385 votes or 24% of the total. But like most airports, it has nice areas and horrible ones.
"I don't think one can say, with any degree of accuracy, that this or that airport is the worst because for the most part, it all depends on where one's particular airline is on the airport and in what terminal," one reader commented. "At New York LaGuardia, take

terminal."
This reader added: "Let's not forget Continental's own C Terminal compared to their horrid A Terminal in Newark." Continental has merged with

Said another reader, "LGA is the worst by far,
with ancient facilities ... They need to knock the whole thing down and start over."
That will be a big challenge -- 23 million passengers use the airport each year.
