Southwest Airlines

is being criticized as being homophobic, after removing an actress of

The L-Word

for kissing another woman on the plane.

Leisha Hailey took to Twitter on Monday, calling for a boycott of the airline. "I have been discriminated against," she tweeted. "Since when is showing affection to someone you love illegal?"

Southwest responded on its Web site saying Hailey was approached "based solely on behavior and not gender" and claimed passengers said the public display of affection was "excessive."

Southwest Airlines has a recent history of kicking off celebrities due to inappropriate behavior.

Earlier in the month, Green Day's front man Billie Joe Armstrong was escorted off a Southwest flight for wearing his pants too low, and last year director Kevin Smith was removed because he didn't fit in his seat because of his weight.
