The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco ruled that live TV on the Internet provider FilmOn X could not avoid copyright law by claiming to be a cable provider, in a victory for Twenty First CenturyFox  (FOX) - Get Report and other broadcast companies.

FilmOn X' defense was that it was a cable company, and therefore was not subject to copyright laws. The judges sided against that claim saying that copyright law does not reasonably provide protection for companies like FilmOn X.
