said its joint venture with battery maker Saft signed a letter of intent with a major vehicle manufacturer to supply lithium-ion batteries. The deal covers the development phase and is expected to lead to volume production for a later date.

The joint venture will invest around $15 million to $20 million for the production of lithium batteries.
