JLG Industries (JLG) reopened a 130,000-square-foot Bedford, Pa., plant and said it would build a new research-and-development facility in its headquarters town.
The McConnellsburg, Pa., maker of construction gear said the Bedford plant will consolidate all manufacturing, sales, marketing, engineering and administrative functions of the company's Commercial Solutions Group. The McConnellsburg plant will be 35,000 square feet.
"The reopening of our Sunnyside Road facility is consistent with the organizational alignments we announced previously," said CEO Bill Lasky. "The CSG is a key element to diversifying our channels to market, one of our principal strategic goals. And, with our new R&D facility, we will continue our legacy of product innovation and development. These investments in additional capacity and the associated reconfigurations at our existing facilities will increase our overall manufacturing capacity, further optimize our facility utilization and position us to more effectively satisfy rising customer demand."
On Wednesday, JLG slipped a penny to $50.02.
