on Thursday announced a summer schedule that includes five new routes and additional flights on six existing routes.
The new routes, effective May 1, include Boston to Bermuda and Charlotte, N.C.; Orlando, Fla., to Ponce, Puerto Rico, and Washington Dulles; and New York Kennedy to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The Bermuda and Ponce flights are for the summer only.
JetBlue will also add single daily flights, effective May 1, on routes from Kennedy to Aruba; Charlotte; Portland, Maine; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; and the Dominican Republic, as well as Long Beach, Calif., to Las Vegas. The Aruba and Portland flights are summer only.
The additions represent a continuation of JetBlue's effort to fill out its route structure. "It's all about connecting the dots between our existing cities as we continue to grow," said spokesman Bryan Baldwin. "With today's announcement, we'll serve 26 destinations nonstop from Boston, 10 destinations from Orlando and nine destinations from Dulles."
The airline serves 46 destinations from Kennedy, where it suffered from widely publicized weather-related operating problems on Feb. 14 and from a subsequent operational breakdown that caused the cancellation of 1,096 flights over five days.
