) -- One woman was killed and more than 50 people were wounded in a bomb attack at a crowded bus stop in central Jerusalem on Wednesday. Israeli police claim Palestinian militants are responsible for the explosion.

Militants planted a 2-pound explosive device in a bag in a phone booth on the sidewalk near the busy station, said Yitzhak Aharonovich, Israel's minister of public security,

reported. The attackers the reportedly detonated the bomb by cell phone at around 3 p.m. local time.
A 60-year-old woman died from the blast and three or four of the wounded were in "critical condition," Israel's emergency services spokesman Yonatan Yagadovsky said,
An Israeli embassy spokesman in Washington said the blast was "not a suicide attack,"
Initial reports from witnesses in Jerusalem claimed the explosion occurred on a bus after the blast blew out the windows of two crowded buses. An Israeli embassy spokesman dismissed this claim.

that he heard the loud explosion as he drove by Jerusalem's central bus station.
