Well, that happened. Late in the evening (or early morning depending upon where you are) Donald Trump was declared the winner of 2016 presidential election. The surprise victory - Trump was projected as a heavy underdog by most pollsters - shocked the Dow futures markets leading to a dip of as much as 750 points pre-market.
Unsure if it was the certainty that Trump is now actually going to take the desk at the Oval Office, or just a general correction to the 9-day selloff in the market over the past few weeks, or something else completely, the markets roared back into record territory ending the day near all-time highs.
But while the world was focused on the election and the fallout from Donald Trump in the White House, news was still happening. Stocks were moving for non-election reasons, earnings were being reported and dealmakers continued making deals.
