The medical examiner's office in Martin County, Florida, confirmed the death of the English pop singer who was known for such songs as "

Last Train to Clarksville," "

I'm a Believer," "

Daydream Believer " and the theme from "

The Monkees."

Jones' representative confirmed Wednesday that he died of a heart attack in Indiantown, Fla., according to

"The Monkees" was a band expressly created for television and included members Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork.
