Shares of hospital stocks such as Tenet Healthcare, (THC) - Get Tenet Healthcare Corporation ReportHCA Holdings, (HCA) - Get HCA Healthcare Inc Report and Universal Health Services (UHS) - Get Universal Health Services, Inc. Class B Report were all declining on Tuesday afternoon, following reports of renewed talks to revive the Republican plan to dismantle the Affordable Care Act.
Republican lawmakers are said to be having "productive" discussions on the new healthcare reform bill, Reuters reports. But, it's too soon to know when and if a new proposal will be put forth.
Last month hospital stocks rallied when it became clear that the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare, would remain as the Republican plan lacked sufficient support. It was widely reported that the Republican plan would end up leaving millions of Americans without health coverage in the coming years.
