The additional capacity enabled by the Harris digital microwave radios will provide about 94 miles of coverage and will assist BTTB in avoiding network bottlenecks. As a result, BTTB will have the ability to use the network as an alternative to any sudden disruption of its existing optical fiber route.
"By choosing Harris microwave radios for this capacity expansion, BTTB has also increased the amount of bandwidth available to deploy next-generation services," the Melbourne, Fla.-based company said. "These next-generation services encompass the type of value-added features that play a key factor in determining what service provider a customer chooses."
