. Gemstar's stock is up more than 40% since Shell was named CEO in November 2002, closing Thursday at $5.40.

Executive Vice President Anthea Disney executive chairman, a move that coincided with the resignation of Lachlan Murdoch from its board of directors. News Corp. is Gemstar's controlling shareholder.
Battista, 40 years old, was most recently executive vice president of business development and strategy at Fox Entertainment.
