reaffirmed its 2005 earnings guidance of $1.78 to $1.83 a share and said that it plans to provide an operational, strategic and financial update on a conference call Friday.

In a brief statement after the close of regular trading Thursday, GE said the call is scheduled for 8 a.m. EDT.

Analysts polled by Thomson First Call expect the company to earn $1.82 a share this year. Shares of GE were down 1 cent from the 4 p.m. close to $35.84 in after-hours trading.
