named Derrick Kuzak vice president for North American engineering.

The company said Kuzak would replace Will Boddie Jr., who will retire. The company said Kuzak will have overall responsibility for engineering signoff of all North American vehicles and direct responsibility for key commodities and common platform parts.

"We're pleased to have Derrick in this new role," Phil Martens, group vice president for product creation, said. "He brings global experience and unique skills to a critical area of product development."

The company also named Stephen Odell vice president for marketing, sales and service at Ford of Europe. He replaces Geoff Polites, who recently was named to head up the company's Jaguar and Land Rover units.

Ford said Joe Bakaj would succeed Kuzak as vice president, product development at Ford of Europe. He leaves a product development role at Ford's Mazda unit.
