NEW YORK (
) -- The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched a preliminary investigation into several consumer complaints of trapped gas pedals in 2010
Fusion and Mercury Milan vehicles.
According to three complaints received and verified by the federal agency, Ford's optional rubber "All Weather" floor mats can slide forward and trap accelerator pedals when placed on top of standard carpeted floor mats.
The NHTSA said it hasn't received any complaints involving crashes, injuries or fatalities.
A Ford spokesperson made the media rounds Tuesday, saying that the All-Weather mats come with warnings against stacking them atop the standard mats.
