Ford Motor Co (F) - Get Ford Motor Company Report announced plans to expand its shuttle service Chariot to New York City this summer with routes throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn for a $4 flat rate, the company said in a Thursday statement.

Chariot already operates in San Francisco, Seattle and Austin, Texas, with New York service rolling out 60 vans that can carry more than a dozen people each by the fall. Ford said earlier this year that it will add Chariot service to eight cities in 2017.

The routes Chariot will run in New York only service the East Side of Manhattan from Midtown to the East Village on its East Side Express, and in Brooklyn from Brooklyn Heights to the Greenpoint area on the Dumbo Direct. Additional routes will be crowd-sourced when the service starts.

Users make a reservation for the shuttle using a mobile app. The service has partnered with commuter benefits programs so users can pay for their Chariot rides with pre-tax dollars.
