The firm also set a $70 price target on the company.
BMO believes that the Rice acquisition strengthens EQT's position in the Marcellus basin and provides significant operational efficiencies. The firm also sees the deal as being "accretive on nearly all metrics."
EQT shares were down $1.07, or 2%, to $52.44 in morning trading Tuesday. BMO's price target represents a potential upside of 31% from the stock's previous closing price.
