WILMINGTON, Del. (
earned $445 million, or 48 cents a share, in the fourth quarter, a swing from a year-earlier loss of $636 million, or 70 cents a share, as sales rose.
DuPont said excluding items earnings in the quarter were 44 cents a share.
Total revenue in the quarter was $6.81 billion vs. $6.07 billion a year earlier. Net sales in the latest fourth quarter were $6.42 billion, an increase of 10%, led by sales growth greater than 20% for titanium dioxide, electronic materials, performance polymers and seed products, DuPont said.
DuPont said volume grew 10%, with increases in all regions. Asia Pacific saw volume up 34% from last year.
Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters predicted DuPont would earn 41 cents a share on sales of $6.16 billion.
DuPont raised its full-year 2010 earnings guidance to a range of $2.15 to $2.45 a share; previous guidance was $2.10 to $2.40 a share. Analysts expect 2010 earnings of $2.26 a share.
