WILMINGTON, Del. (
said its first-quarter earnings rose to $1.13 billion, or $1.24 a share, from $489 million, or 54 cents a year earlier, topping the estimates of analysts.
DuPont said sales rose 23% to $8.5 billion on volumes that rose 19%.
Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $1.06 a share on revenue of $8.06 billion.
DuPont raised its full-year 2010 earnings guidance to a range of $2.50 to $2.70 a share; previous guidance was $2.15 to $2.45 a share.
DuPont said Tuesday that Asia Pacific sales were $1.6 billion with volume up 65%. The company said volumes in emerging markets increased 28%.
