, the chemicals giant, reaffirmed its 2012 outlook after fourth-quarter adjusted earnings topped analysts' forecasts by 2 cents.
DuPont affirmed its 2012 adjusted earnings outlook of $4.20 to $4.40 a share, an increase of 7% to 12% from 2011. Analysts estimate DuPont will earn $4.26 a share this year.
DuPont earned 35 cents a share in the fourth quarter, excluding items. The period included a "headwind" of 23 cents a share from a higher tax rate, the company said. Reported earnings were 40 cents a share.
Net sales in the quarter rose 14% to $8.425 billion, principally from principally 14% higher local prices, Dupont said. Including other income, revenue was $8.77 billion.
