Disney (DIS) - Get Report officially shuttered its multiplayer online game Club Penguin at 12:01 a.m. PT on Thursday, and launched its replacement mobile app. The original game, designed to be an online hangout for kids, was first launched 11 years ago.

The closure was first announced back in January, much to fans' disappointment, but Disney is hoping the new version will draw in users with its cheaper monthly subscription rate and mobile device convenience.

The app will cost $4.99 per month, down from the original game's $7.95 per month subscription rate.
