Delphi Automotive(DLPH) - Get Report , the technology company serving the automotive sector,  is joining a BMW-led consortium that is working to develop a fully self-driving car by 2021, the Financial Times reports.

Last summer BMW, Intel(INTC) - Get Report  and Mobileye (MBLY)  agreed to make driverless cars, with the aim of creating an industry blueprint for the technology.

The trio had said at the time that other companies, both car makers and technology groups, would be welcome to join their efforts, the Times notes.

While Intel provides the chips and Mobileye the sensors, Delphi will build systems that integrate the technology into the vehicle.
