The company, which makes electronic scoreboards and video displays, earned $8.9 million, or 22 cents a share, on revenue of $123.5 million. Analysts polled by Thomson First Call expected earnings of 15 cents a share on revenue of $98.4 million. During the year-earlier quarter, the company earned $5.2 million, or 13 cents a share, on revenue of $75.8 million.
Looking forward, Daktronics expects third-quarter earnings of 12 cents to 18 cents a share and revenue of $103 million to $115 million. Analysts expect earnings of 14 cents a share on revenue of $92.1 million. For the entire year, the company expects to generate revenue of $450 million. Analysts project full-year revenue of $395.5 million.
Shares closed Wednesday at $33.60, up $6.93.
