Customer satisfaction with search engine results from all the major companies fell by 1.3 points from a year ago, according to a report from the American Customer Satisfaction Index.

Alphabet Inc.'s (GOOGL) - Get Report Google search engine, for example, received an aggregate score of 80. The highest score the company received was 86 in 2002.

The social media category was stable, however, with Google+ receiving the highest satisfaction level in its group of 81. The firm attributed that score to redesigns and the addition of new features.

Alphabet shares were up 0.42% to $956.51 in morning trading Friday.
