Systemwide sales for McDonald's restaurants worldwide increased 8.6% in August, or 7.1% in constant currencies, the burger seller said Tuesday.
Comp sales were up 8.8% in Europe as nearly every country had a positive performance, including France, Germany and the U.K. Same-store sales in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa climbed 6.1%, primarily because of strong results in Japan.
Overall, comp sales were up 6%. Shares of McDonald's, a component of the
Dow Jones Industrial Average
, rose 19 cents to $37.31 before the opening bell.
