The Cherry Hill, N.J., bank said Schwartz will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive lending strategy. He will lead Commerce Bank's charge to expand its commercial lending business to meet the widely diverse financial needs of customers throughout the city. The addition of Schwartz to the Commerce team reflects the bank's longstanding philosophy of having local bankers making local loans.
Prior to joining Commerce, Schwartz was executive vice president and general manager for business banking at Dime Savings Bank. He also held senior positions at NatWest Bank and Fleet Bank.
"Don Schwartz in an outstanding addition to our senior management team, and his extensive commercial banking experience in New York City and beyond definitely will be a tremendous plus for our current and future customers," said Commerce Bank's New York City market manager, Gregory Braca. "Don's relentless energy and customer service passion are an ideal match with the Commerce style of banking that has received a tremendous reception from customers throughout New York City."
