The U.S. Commerce Department has removed China-based telecom equipment maker ZTE (ZTCOY)  from a trade blacklist after the company admitted that it violated sanctions on Iran, according to a department notice released on Tuesday.

The Commerce Department will also impose restrictions on ZTE's former chief executive, Shir Lirong. The agency accused him of approving the efforts to circumvent the sanctions, Reuters reported.
