Comcast Corp.'s (CMCSA) - Get Report Universal movie studio unit is looking to sell its 45% stake in Chinese movie studio Oriental DreamWorks, which subsidiary DreamWorks Animation paid $3.8 billion for last year, the Financial Times reported.

Universal inherited the venture when Comcast purchased DreamWorks Animation last year. The remaining 55% stake is owned by Chinese investment and media group China Media Capital.

Comcast and Universal have reportedly butted heads over what to do with the unit. "I am more focused on just China and less globally, while they want to make films in China for the world. Today the priority of Universal is a theme park in Beijing," CMC head Li Ruigang said.
