said late Friday its customer service team will be on high alert this weekend as Hurricane Irene bares down on the East Coast.
"Citi is prepared to work with our Consumer clients throughout any type of emergency situation to help with their individual circumstances," the company said in statement. "In such instances as a hurricane, where entire regions or areas may need disaster assistance, we are prepared to offer our clients a variety of financial recovery options. Our customer service team will be on high alert throughout this weekend, ready to take action as needed."
The bank added that its retail locations in parts of the New York City metropolitan area that have been designated as mandatory evacuation areas were closed at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, and said its retail locations throughout the area will be close on Sunday, Aug. 28 as a precautionary measure.
Citigroup shares closed Friday at $29.84, down a penny.
