
Chrysler Sales Up 5% From July

Chrysler
said Tuesday that its U.S. sales fell 15% in August.
The automaker said August sales of 93,222 units were up 5% from July. It estimated the industry's seasonally adjusted sales rate in August, including the impact of the Cash for Clunkers program, to be 14.4 million.

said it anticipates full-year sales of 10.5 million to 11 million vehicles.
At the end of August, Chrysler's inventory stood at 100,238 units, a 28-day supply, down 74% from 380,560 units a year earlier.
The company finished the month with 100,238 units in inventory, representing a 28-day supply. Inventory is down 74 percent versus August 2008 when it totaled 380,560 units.
"Chrysler Group's large car, minivan, crossover and truck segments all posted increases in retail sales in August," said Steven Beahm, vice president-sales operations. Seventeen of the 26 Chrysler nameplates posted year-over-year and/or month-over-month increases, the company said. Chrysler PT Cruiser retail sales rose 100% to 3,819 units, while Dodge Grand Caravan sales rose 13% to 10,648 units.
