
CBS Replaces Early Show Cast

with the its weekend cast in an effort to be more competitive with higher-rated morning shows such as
Today
on NBC and
Good Morning America

Disney's

anchors Erica Hill and Chris Wragge will replace the current weekday anchors, Harry Smith and Maggie Rodriguez.
Marysol Castro will replace Dave Price as the show's weatherman while Jeff Glor, the anchor of the Saturday edition of
CBS Evening News
, will be appointed as the news anchor.
"We think we have a terrific combination in Erica, Chris, Jeff and Marysol," CBS news and sports president Sean McManus said. "This new team brings vibrancy, intelligence and warmth that I think America will grow to love."
Hill and Wragge have been co-anchors on the Saturday edition of the show since 2008. Hill has served as a news anchor on
The Early Show
since January 2010 while Wragge has been an anchor on the 5 P.M. and 11 P.M. newscasts on WCBS in New York since 2006.
"This group is the perfect combination of intelligence and personality for morning television," executive producer David Friedman said. "I'm excited to give viewers the opportunity to welcome them into their homes each morning."
CBS said that the current cast of the show will continue at CBS News in new roles after the changes take effect on Jan. 3.
