Career Education said shareholders backed the election of Patrick W. Gross, Steven H. Lesnik and Keith K. Ogata.

"We are grateful that the stockholders have supported the company's recommended nominees and we are pleased at the acknowledgement by investors of our corporate governance enhancements," the Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based company said.

Dissident shareholder Steve Bostic had criticized the company's management and nominated a slate of three directors,
