After blockbuster hit "Wonder Woman" captivated audiences and shattered box office records this summer, DC Entertainment is at it again.
This time, Time Warner Inc.-owned (TWX) DC Entertainment is releasing "Justice League," a superhero mashup film featuring Gal Gadot reprising her role as Wonder Woman. She'll star alongside Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman and several more Hollywood heavyweights taking on superheroic roles.
The film, which hopes to capitalize on the success of previous Justice League character films, is tracking to open around $110 million in its debut in North America, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The film is opening in most major markets overseas, too, tracking to launch to $325 million globally. DC Entertainment's "Justice League" will look to emulate the success of Walt Disney Cos (DIS) - Get Report and Marvel's "Avengers" franchise.
Reviews for "Justice League" have so far been mixed. It earned a lackluster 43% rating from Rotten Tomatoes, but could draw moviegoers in with its star-studded lineup.
Family drama "Wonder," based on the children's book by R.J. Palacio, stars Julia Roberts as the mother of a child with a deformed face. The film is looking to open around $9 million in its debut, and could enjoy a sustained run through the holidays as kids become available during winter break.
