BOMBAY -- Bombay stocks rose 1.1% Thursday.

The BSE Sensex rose 125.30 points to close at 11,531.95 after earlier falling as low as11,297.

Gainers Thursday were

Reliance

, up 4.2%,

Hindalco

, up 3.8%, and

Gujarat Ambuja

, higher by 3.3%.

Among laggards were

ONGC

, which dropped 0.9%,

Reliance Energy

, down 0.5%, and

BHEL

, off 0.4%.

Tata Tea rose 0.6% on the news that the company along with its promoter, Tata Sons, acquired a 30% shareholding in Energy Brands U.S. for $677 million.
