The Boeing plant in Charleston votes 199-68 to decertify the International Association of Machinists.
CHARLESTON, S.C. (
) -- Workers at the
Boeing
(BA) - Get Report
plant in Charleston have voted to decertify the International Association of Machinists.
The vote was 199 opposed to the union, with 68 in favor.
"It's a democratic process," said IAM spokesman Bob Wood. "We certainly feel that workers would be better with union representation. It's too bad that Boeing did not stay neutral in the process and let the workers decide."
Potentially, Boeing could establish a second 787 line in Charleston, although that decision has not been made.
