NEW YORK (
) -- Watch out,
Barnes & Noble
is getting aggressive on prices for the holidays.
The bookseller announced that it is selling a
of its new Nook Simple Touch e-reader for $79 today, Black Friday, down from the usual $99. The product itself appears to be the same as the $99 version in every way except that the back of the device is white rather than black.
Barnes & Noble is matching the price of Amazon's cheapest Kindle today, Black Friday, but only while supplies last.
The price cut means that for at least one day, the Nook e-reader will cost the same as Amazon's cheapest e-reader, with one big difference: Unlike the
, Barnes & Noble's e-reader doesn't come with ads.
So if you're in the market for a cheap e-reader, you'd better head to the nearest branch of the book chain now.
If you do miss the deal on the e-reader, Barnes & Noble also has an
where customers can get $25 off the Nook Color or Nook Tablet, or $10 off the Nook e-reader when they sign up for a membership with the company. The membership itself costs $25 annually, so you really just come out even, but it does come with significant discounts on books and other products.
