Bank One


said today that its vice chairman, William P. Boardman, will retire March 1.

According to a spokesman, Bank One isn't required to have a vice chair, and the company doesn't plan to name a successor to fill Boardman's post.

Boardman joined Bank One, which is based in Chicago, in 1984 and has served as vice chairman and a member of the board since December 1999. He became chairman and chief executive of
