said today that its vice chairman, William P. Boardman, will retire March 1.
According to a spokesman, Bank One isn't required to have a vice chair, and the company doesn't plan to name a successor to fill Boardman's post.
Boardman joined Bank One, which is based in Chicago, in 1984 and has served as vice chairman and a member of the board since December 1999. He became chairman and chief executive of
, Bank One's credit card business, in October 1999. In November 2000, Bank One said that Philip G. Heasley would succeed Boardman as head of First USA.
Shares of Bank One closed at $38.29, down 71 cents, or 1.8% in
New York Stock Exchange
