The film had the biggest single-day ticket sales ever on ticket purchasing website Fandango on Tuesday. While the website doesn't release specific ticket sales numbers, the previous record holder was "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" -- another Disney film -- which went on to gross $248 million in its opening weekend in 2015.
"Endgame" sold more tickets in its first six hours of availability than the "Force Awakens" did in its first 24 hours of sales, Fandango said.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is the highest grossing film in North America of all time. Over its theatrical run, the film grossed $936.66 million. Worldwide it is the third-highest grossing film of all time, garnering $2.01 billion over its full run.
Avengers: Endgame is slated for release on April 26.
Separately, Disney was reinstated with a buy rating at Goldman Sachs with a $142 price target. The firm is bullish on the closing of the company's acquisition of Fox's assets and the pending debut of its direct-to-consumer offering Disney+.
Disney shares are up 0.5% in trading Thursday.
Disney is a holding in Jim Cramer's Action Alerts PLUS charitable trust.
