, a maker of air bags and seat belts, named Benoit Marsaud to a newly created position of chief operating officer effective September 1.

Marsaud, , who currently is president of the company's European operations, will report directly to CEO Lars Westerberg.

Marsaud, who has been working for Autoliv since 1980, will assume an overall global responsibility for the corporate functions engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, IT and quality, as well as for Autoliv's five regional organizations and Autoliv electronics, the Stockholm, Sweden-based company said.
