Aquila Sets Orders for D-VAR System
The voltage regulation system will be supplied for central Kansas.
Electricty operator
Aquila
(ILA)
awarded an order for a D-VAR system to
American Superconductor
(AMSC) - Get Report
and
GE Energy
, an arm of the
General Electric
(GE) - Get Report
.
The D-VAR system will be used to bolster the voltage stability of the Aquila transmission system in central Kansas.
American Superconductor engineers, along with Aquila's transmission planning staff, had determined that system was susceptible to low voltage for certain contingencies.
The D-VAR system would assist with a fast voltage recovery, ensuring the reliability of the transmission network, the companies said.
