
Apple TV Returns to Amazon After Two Years
Apple Inc.'s (AAPL) - Get Report Apple TV has returned to Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) - Get Report after two years off of the ecommerce site's virtual shelves, TechCrunch reported.
The decision to sell Apple TV units on Amazon comes after Apple CEO Tim Cook announced in June that Amazon's Prime Video app would return to Apple TV. The two tech giants appear to have reached an agreement that has allowed Amazon's app onto Apple's device and Apple's media player on Amazon's retail site.
Amazon stopped selling both Apple TV and Alphabet Inc.'s (GOOGL) - Get Report Google Chromecast two years ago, going as far as banning third parties from selling the devices, too. The company said it would abstain from selling any media players that didn't support its Prime Video app.
A 64 GB Apple TV 4K, which is the newest rendition of the player announced earlier this month, runs $199 on Amazon and was listed for sale within the past few days. The Amazon Prime Video app is listed as 'coming soon' on Apple TV.
Amazon stock traded up 0.13% to $941 in late-afternoon trading on Tuesday, while Apple stock gained 1.95% to $153.49.
