Andy Rubin, co-founder and former CEO of Android, debuted a new line of products today, including one intended to compete with the  (AMZN) Echo and Alphabet's (GOOGL) Google Home.

Rubin's new firm Essential unveiled today its Essential Home, a small round-shaped device with a display that provides relevant information dependent on the time of day, including traffic updates.

Essential Home runs a custom operating system called "Ambient OS" that can allow users to control their smart homes, play music, ask questions, set timers and more.
