American Will Code Share With Kingfisher
DALLAS (
) --
American
(AMR)
said it will enter into a code-share agreement with India's
Kingfisher Airlines.
Kingfisher has said it will join the Oneworld alliance. The code-share agreement will strengthen its relationship with American and will ease connections for passengers on both airlines, in advance of the Oneworld membership.
|
Initially, the agreement will enable American to place its code on Kingfisher domestic flights beyond Delhi, where the two carriers share a terminal. American will also codeshare on Kingfisher flights from London Heathrow to Delhi and Mumbai, while Kingfisher will put its code on American's Chicago-Delhi flight and on select American flights between Heathrow and the U.S.
The agreement also enables passengers to select which carrier's frequent flier miles they will accumulate on the code-share flights. Going forward, the carriers may allow choices regarding redemption.
In other Oneworld news, Russian carrier
S7
formally joined the alliance last week.
